VOLUNTEER.

WICA offers unique volunteer opportunities
supporting a multitude of events and projects
throughout the season. There is a wide range
of fun and fulfilling hands-on projects in various
capacities from front of house, administration,
education, and production (onstage and
backstage).

Have fun, learn new skills, make great friends,

and become a valued part of our arts community!

VOLUNTEER FORM


Front of House.

As a Front of House volunteer, consider yourself

a host of WICA. You report to the House
Manager one hour prior to the performance and
are asked to remain after the performance to
assist in clean up.

Ushers
Ushers are used at all performances at WICA.

Responsibilities include preparing the lobby prior
to each show, vacuuming when directed by the
House Manager, collating and distributing
programs, and directing patrons to their seats.
At intermission, ushers assume position at the
doors, answer questions and ensure no food or
drinks are brought into the theatre.  After the
performance ushers will recycle programs,
vacuum and assist with clean-up.

Concessions
Concessionaires sell food and drinks before the

performance and during intermission. Duties
include brewing coffee, restocking concession
items, making change and keeping the
concession area clean. Volunteers assist with
clean up after intermission and the performance.

Ticket Takers
Ticket Takers welcome patrons to WICA. During

intermission, Ticket Takers assist in the
concessions area. Following each performance,
volunteers thank patrons for attending and assist
with clean up.

Will Call
The Will Call volunteer works with a Ticket Office

staff member and provides patrons with their
pre-paid tickets. During intermission, Will Call
volunteers assist in the concessions area.
Following each performance, volunteers thank
patrons for attending and assist with clean up.

Administrative.

Mailing Parties
Help collate, stamp, label and prepare printed
materials for mailing and distribution when
needed. One to three hours depending on project.

Production.

Performance

Acting
Season Auditions for the Theatre Series occur
in August. However, show-specific audtions may
occur throughout the season. Artists are welcome
to submit materials at anytime. We encourage all
ranges of acting experience from novices to
seasoned actors to become involved. We have
the tools to help you "grow" your talent.

Sets

Design
Works with director to create a “world” for the
production, and will create drawings/models of
the design for Technical Director to engineer set
designs.

Construction
Works with Technical Director to build sets.
All levels of experience are welcome.
Time commitment varies.

Painting
Paints completed set.
All levels of experience are welcome.

Costumes

Design
Works with director to create costumes. Pulls
costumes from different sources, designs and
sews individual pieces when needed. Time
commitment will vary depending on costume
requirements.

Support
Assists costume designer in finding, sewing,
ironing, modifying, fittings, and maintaining
costumes.

Dresser
Prepares costumes and assists actors in
costume changes during a performance. Attends
dress rehearsals and is expected to assist at
each performance of the production.

Lighting

Design
Very skilled technical position and is supervised
by the Technical Director.

Light Board Operator
No experience necessary technical position.
Training will be provided by the Technical
Director. Attends tech week, the last week of
rehearsals and is expected to work the light
board each performance of the production.

Sound

Design
Very skilled technical position and is supervised
by the Technical Director.

Sound Board Operator
No experience necessary technical position.
Training will be provided by the Technical
Director.  Attends tech week, the last week of
rehearsals and is expected to work the sound
board each performance of the production.

Properties

Design
Collects all props needed from varied sources,
builds/makes props and assures props are
returned to rightful owners after production.

Support
Assists in attaining, building and fixing all props.

Hair/Makeup

Design
Assist actors in preparing for each performance
as directed by the costume designer. Attends
dress rehearsals and is expected to assist at
each performance of the production.

Stage Management

Stage Manager
Attends to all rehearsals, production meetings
and acts as administrative assistant to the
Director. Facilitates the technical end of the
production. Requires a large commitment in
time and experience.

Assistant Stage Manager
Assists the Stage Manager and works on
Running Crew during production. Some
experience required and large time commitment.

Running Crew
Works the entire production performing varied
duties. Attends tech week, the final rehearsals
in order to “learn” the show and is expected to
work each performances. Duties range from
supporting the actors back stage to moving
props on stage.
