They live in Langley on a three-acre farm where they tend to their chickens, turkeys, garden, and very own field of dreams. ABOUT SUE'S GUESTS

Hailing from the Muscadet region of France,
Thierry Rautureau is the James Beard Award-winning chef and owner of Rover’s and Luc restaurants. Raised on a farm, Rautureau helped his mother prepare meals for the family. From an early age he learned to appreciate seasonal cooking and utilizing fresh, homegrown ingredients.... During a visit to see friends in Seattle, Thierry Rautureau, known as the Chef in the Hat due to his ever-present fedora, dined at Rover’s and discovered the restaurant was for sale. Charmed by the converted house tucked away in a private courtyard, and inspired by the ingredients found in the Pacific Northwest, Rautureau moved to Seattle and opened Rover’s in August 1987. Chef Rautureau’s vision is a warm, comfortable dining environment, similar to dining at a friend’s house. Rover’s is dedicated to professional service, exquisite wine and food, and an intimate environment... more.

Ethan Stowell is a self-trained cook who credits his family kitchen for his culinary roots. Stowell’s parents (Kent and Francia Stowell) ran Pacific Northwest Ballet; once he realized -- at a mercifully young age -- that he was a terrible dancer, Stowell took up food instead. He climbed the ranks at a family friend’s catering company before heading to Atlanta to work at Seeger's. Back in Seattle he worked at Nells' and The Painted Table, all the while picking up catering gigs on the side with the aim of building a loyal following and finding potential investors for the restaurant he knew he wanted to open. Learn more about Ethan's restaurants here.

I
f Julien Perry's resume were a menu, she'd have all courses covered. She's worked for Urbanspoon and OpenTable; has been the food editor for Seattle Business Monthly and WINO Magazines; spent years as the restaurant reporter for KOMO Radio; and is currently writing for Seattle Weekly. In her spare time, she works as the Seattle Editor for Chefs Feed. You can also catch Julien talking about her favorite restaurants every other week on Q13 Morning News.

FUN FACT: Julien spent a year as a pastry intern at Rover's. Thierry never let her wear his hat.
