"Hear My Voice" and "The New American"
We meet Jessie, the herione of "Hear My Voice," in Washington, DC during the early 1900s. When her Great Aunt Charlotte, a longtime suffragist, comes to town, she introduces Jessie to the movement. Jessie begins to learn about the history of the women who started the movement, such as Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton, the new generation who have continued the fight, like Alice Paul and Lucy Burns -- and those who oppose it, including her own parents... more.
"The New American" begins in rural Ireland where we meet Bridget Rose Fitzgerald, her father and her brother, Denny. The year is 1912. The Fitzgeralds barely manage to hold into their farm in bad times. After Denny disappears in Dublin, Father is left with no choice but to send Bridget to America in hopes she will be able to send back enough money to save their home... more.

SEATTLE SHAKESPEARE COMPANY
Founded in 1991, Seattle Shakespeare Company presents year-round productions of classical plays. In its indoor home at the Center House Theatre at Seattle Center, SSC produces a season of plays by Shakespeare and other classic authors. During the summer its free, outdoor Wooden O productions tour to parks in King, Pierce and Snohomish counties. The company's nimble state-wide touring productions feature 90-minute versions of Shakespeare’s works that play in schools and other venues. Its innovative education programs include school residencies, workshops, classes and camps during school breaks.
SCC believes that the plays of William Shakespeare and other classic playwrights are timeless works that cross social and cultural boundaries. With their rich themes and wide gallery of characters, these plays examine the full breadth of human experience: love, jealousy, loyalty, leadership, passion, vengeance, romance, ambition, and humor. Within these time-tested works are insights that continue to sing to contemporary audiences, and that is why SCC (and WICA, too) believes our region deserves a theatre committed to first-rate, professional productions of Shakespeare and the classics.
