TINGSTAD AND RUMBEL IN CONCERT.

Grammy Award winners Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel have performed, recorded and toured together for 25 years, having begun their musical collaboration in 1985, when Nancy was living on Langley ’s Edgecliff Drive after spending several years with the Paul Winter Consort. Eric, an acoustical guitarist, asked Nancy to join him on an album, “The Gift,” which quickly became a holiday classic. One of their first public performances occurred at the Langley United Methodist Church , arranged by Nancy ’s Edgecliff neighbor, Bill Humphreys, church music director. Honoring their Langley roots, the duo has returned nearly every year since to perform a holiday concert with a generous donation going to the LUMC music program.

In their 25-year career, they have produced 19 albums, traveled to as many as 50 concerts a year, including an appearance at Carnegie Hall, and garnered several awards. In 1998, “American Acoustic” was honored as Acoustic Instrumental Album of the Year. The Grammy Award came their way in 2003 for their album “ Acoustic Garden .” Their music is a rare blend of American fingerstyle guitar, oboe, English horn, and ocarina. The eclectic program for this special concert will include unique arrangements of traditional holiday music, original compositions from their albums, and, as always, something new and fresh.
