JAMES HINKLEY, CELLO.
An evening of music for cello and piano featuring works from the concert repertoire, the world of jazz, and a few new discoveries and original compositions. James will be accompanied by
South Whidbey
pianists Kathy Fox and Robert Marsianyi. There may even be some surprise guests as well!
Running time: TBA with one intermission
Recommended for all ages
"Hinkley's cello helps shape the music into something warm, soft, and darkly inviting. In his hands, it's also a surprisingly versatile instrument; while an accompanying role as a quasi-bass is easy enough to imagine, it's in the carved lines and fluid bowing of his solos that Hinkley really makes the instrument sing. One wonders why it's not heard more often in jazz circles." -- Jack Brown, Djangology.net
